Hindenburg Leka

Born in Elbasan, Albania, Hindenburg Leka began his musical training at the age of six on the violin before switching to the viola. He first studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Tirana and later at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in Madrid with Diemut Poppen, Nils Mönkemeyer, and Yuval Gotlibovich.

Leka participated in masterclasses with artists such as Kim Kashkashian, Bruno Giuranna, and Menahem Pressler and founded the Albeniz String Quartet, which was coached by Rainer Schmidt, Günter Pichler, and Heime Müller. The quartet won the Queen Sofia Prize and performed in Spain and South America.

From 2009 to 2017, he was a member of the Orchestra Mozart under Claudio Abbado and played with major orchestras and conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Lorin Maazel, and Vladimir Ashkenazy.

From 2011 to 2012, Leka was solo violist of the Duisburg Philharmonic and has been solo violist of the Dortmund Philharmonic since 2020.
